Welcome

Hi, I’m Halli

I am a 4th generation gardener. My great-grandmother had a beautiful garden and orchard. She grew almost all the food for her large family, cooked delicious meals and desserts. I am fortunate to have her delicious apple dumpling recipe, and I love to make it for my family. I have been growing my own garden for over 20 years. Growing my own food, improving the soil, and feeding my family home-cooked meals are my passions.

My love of growing things began by watching my mother and grandmothers working in their flower and vegetable gardens. Their love of plants and growing things rooted deep in my young heart.

A few years ago, we purchased a house on 5 acres. The challenges of growing a vegetable garden in the heavy clay soil on this property has fueled a deep interest in soil productivity and health. If you want to talk soil microbes and compost, I’m your girl!

Where this all began

East Fork Growing was born out of a desire to inspire a generation of gardeners to grow their own food, improve their soil, and eat well. No matter our circumstances, we can take steps to be a little more self reliant.

The East Fork is a place for growers and producers, for people who aren’t content with a life of ease and consuming. This is a place for those of us who want a little more out of life. We are the ones who create, produce, and leave this world better than we found it.

Thanks for being here!
